( 1 and 1/4 page or so in length about 500 words or so) It is a way of writing about your thinking about the total assignment–readings, video (where provided) and your reaction(s) to them. While not a formal paper, it should be well organized, fully developed, and carefully written. It should demonstrate not only that you have carefully read the readings and viewed video content, but that you have thought about them and how they fit within each course topic. An effective response paper demonstrates that you have developed connections and implications between the assigned materials and themes of the given course topic. Finally, your paper will be free of common writing errors (incorrect grammar/usage, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, etc.). Questions to consider for the response paper assignment: • What is the focus of the reading(s) and video content, if any, and how do they fit within the topic? • What are the most important points made? • How does the material reflect/challenge your own assumptions, perspectives?
