Many people in healthcare believe that regulations and requirements such as HIPAA, State Privacy Laws and PCI are all about protecting the patients but are just “overhead” and burden to the organization. Discuss how these regulations and requirements may be of benefit to the organization. Think beyond simply beyond avoiding penalties for failure to comply and give two examples where following the requirements would be of benefit to the organization. Talk about how these requirements might parallel good business practices.
