Case background
Cynthia Mitchell was just recruited to a plum management position at AgFunds, a Houston-based company that provides financial services to farmers and farmer-owned cooperatives. However, the district has been poorly managed and losing customers. Cynthia needs a powerhouse sales rep to turn the district around and she thinks she's found one in Steve Ripley. But several of Cynthia's colleagues suggest that Steve might not be the best fit for the job: He's a black man in a company whose customer base is mostly conservative and white.
