2. A 75 year old male presented to ED with fever and abdominal pain. Prior to this admission he had been treated by his GP for a UTI due to pseudomonas. Blood cultures revealed the infection has now spread and he was diagnosed with severe sepsis due to pseudomonas with acute renal failure. He remained in hospital for 6 days treatment with IV antibiotics. He was discharged home once his renal function had recovered and his symptoms had settled.
