Scenario
You are the international communications coordinator at KitKat Financials, LLC. You are writing an internal report on business communication in Costa Rica for the company executives who will meet Costa Rican clients.
You have written the first draft of the report. You now need to compose the executive summary.
Your Task
Review pp. 348-352, and check the formal report pp. 361-372. Write the executive summary that will accompany the internal business report on Costa Rican business etiquette and customs. Follow these steps to compose your message:
1. Read the attached draft of the internal report on Costa Rican business etiquette and customs.
2. Use the ACE model to compose and evaluate your executive summary. Your summary will be a condensed version of the entire report. Concentrate on what the company executives need to know by including all important findings and recommendations.
3. Use the principles of business writing to deliver a message that is professional, clear, concise, and free of grammatical and mechanical errors. Note that you should not just cut and paste sentences from the attached report as it includes grammar and punctuation mistakes. It also lacks conciseness and clarity at times.
4. Prepare a cover page. Format it like the example on p. 361.
5. Double space your executive summary and leave one-inch margins.
