Neuropsychology is above all a science. As such, those who work in the field use the scientific method to understand the brain and our behaviors. The role of genetics and the environment cannot be denied in mental or physical disorders. However, how we test certain areas or apply the findings of the research can have serious ethical implications.
Questions to discuss:
What are some of the methods we use to study neuroscience?
What can be some of the ethical issues that must be addressed when doing research/experiments? (Garrett & Hough, 2022, 116).
Consider stem cell therapy. Why is this considered an “unethical procedure” for some? Should we continue the use of stem cells? Why or why not? (Garrett & Hough, 2022, p. 20).
