Involvement , service, leadership, or mentorship

 I have had the opportunity to contribute to LGBTQIA+ progress both locally and nationally. My efforts are informed by my personal commitment to improve understanding of gender identity and sexual orientation through education and advocacy. One of my primary ways of supporting the LGBTQIA+ community has been volunteering for local nonprofit organizations such as GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network) where I am part of a team that works towards creating safe spaces for queer youth in schools. This includes developing programs on anti-bullying measures as well as fundraisers to provide important resources for students who identify as LGBTIQA+. Here at GLSEN, I also work alongside others in hosting activities such as movie screenings or discussions on relevant topics surrounding issues faced by queer people. By helping organize these events we aim to spread awareness amongst our peers while providing an inclusive space for all individuals regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. In addition to working with nonprofits like GLSEN, I have also served a leadership role at The Equality House – a non-profit organization which serves as an example of tolerance between communities everywhere by uniting cultures under one roof; literally! This house is painted the colors of the rainbow flag—the international symbol representing LGBTIQA+ pride—and it stands directly across from Westboro Baptist Church’s “God Hates Fags” sign in Topeka Kansas . As volunteer Project Manager here at The Equality House ,I develop programming surrounding social justice issues related to LGBTIQA+ equality including how individuals can become better allies in their own communities and beyond. Aside from direct service with nonprofits organisations ,I often use other platforms such as blogging or YouTube videos where I share educational content about gender identities/sexual orientations ,mental health tips within the queer community etc., In hopes that this will make information more accessible so everyone -regardless their location- can access knowledge about relevant issues facing members within this group . These topics are also discussed further during panel conversations which take place either online or physically where experts join us together asking questions regarding different types of discrimination ..etc ; All this is done while ensuring we keep up with current news & changes around laws relating LGBTQIA+ rights . Last but certainly not least ,my most significant contribution towards advancing LGBTIQA+ causes was when I started ‘Queers Against Discrimination’; A student led campaign aiming at bringing attention & raising funds towards injustices experienced by queers both locally & internationally . It comprises mainly outreaching via digital platforms inviting people off all walks off life regardless off orientation/identification ;to join us in defending human rights through carefully planned projects mobilizing every efforts available into action . We believe true change starts only after proper representation happens thus why our ultimate goal is devoted solely into erasing discrimination based on sexuality throughout our society . Overall ,my experience being part off initiatives involving LBGTQIA+ citizens has enabled me gain extensive knowledge while helping shape attitudes & mindsets vital into obtaining respectability under many aspects specifically those revolving around social acceptance& inclusion among other things
