is a media outlet that publishes articles written by academics and researchers. The articles offer informed commentary and in-depth analysis on the issues affecting our lives from experts in the field. All publications are written in plain English so that they are digestible to a broad audience and presented with academic rigour and journalistic flair.
As an academic with expertise in food, nutrition and health, you have been asked to write an article for The Conversation discussing current dietary patterns in Australia, how these differ from the guidelines, and how our food system needs to change to better support human and planetary health.
Your task
Part 1: Write a persuasive article for The Conversation (1000 words)
Building on the initial reflection and feedback of assessment task 1, write a persuasive article to be published in The Conversation. Your article should describe:
the discrepancy in food group intake including relevant statistics (same as assessment 1a),
the nutritional consequences of this discrepancy,
the current state of the food system and how this contributes to the problem (barriers),
a food system-level strategy to address one (or more) of the identified barriers,
what specific food system change is required and how it will help to address the issue,
ways that your food system strategy also results in planetary health double-wins.
