Justine video analysis

Order Description review this video and respond to the questions as outlined below, submitting a 2-3 page summary. Justine video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REZE5t_ygP4 Imagine you are the medical social worker with the cardiology service at Children’s Hospital Seattle. Your job is to provide emotional support and resources to families of critically ill children, to facilitate their understanding of the medical diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options so they may participate in the informed consent process, and to facilitate communication and conflict resolution both within the family and between the medical team and the family regarding medical care. Your service is currently providing medical care to Justine Chitsena, a 4-year-old Laotian girl born with an atrial septal defect (a hole in the muscle wall of her heart) which doctors feel will eventually lead to premature death if not surgically repaired. Justine’s family identifies as Khmu Lao, the largest ethnic minority within Laos and the indigenous inhabitants of the Northern region of Laos. They are mostly agriculturalist, speak their own language (Khmu) which has no written form, and often follow both mainstream Lao customs and their own Khmu customs. Questions to consider in your written summary: What would you want to know/what components would you include in your assessment? Based on readings for class, is there a particular framework(s) you would use to conduct your assessment and why? What are the various perspectives on the patient problem? What would you do differently, if anything, from the process in the video? How would you intervene across the various perspectives represented in this case?
