  1. In 150-200 words, answer Question #8 under ‘Exploring Connections’ on page 455 and Question #6 under ‘Thinking Rhetorically’ on page 467. Be sure to write out both the question and the answer.

Question 8: Whether she is writing about mill towns, the mining industry, or We work, Aronoff highlights problems such as the exploitation of workers, job insecurity, and cutthroat competition. Compare her perspective to the Utopian vision in Rutger Bregman’s “why we should give free Money to Everyone” (p.456). Whose vision do you think will prove more accurate over the next twenty years, and why?

Question 6: Thinking Rhetorically Throughout this excerpt Bregman balances scholarship with the success stories of particular individuals (for example, the Kenyan man who became a taxi driver, or the woman who earned her psychology degree). Study a few passages that include descriptions of individuals, and discuss what these descriptions add to the logical or emotional impact of Bregman’s prose.

  1. Just like you have been doing, take a look at what you wrote in your discussion post answer above and underline any place in your writing that you have grammar questions about (like, ‘Did I structure this sentence correctly?’ or ‘Is that the right verb tense?’). By simply underlining sentences that you struggle with, you begin to keep track of possible language errors and what you need to find out how to write the sentences correctly. So….this means that your discussion post should have answers with underlined sentences in it showing your grammar concerns.
