When reading and considering an example of contemporary fiction, like George Saunders’s Lincoln in the Bardo, one of the disadvantages is that there are few or no published scholarly articles on the book to consider. But one way of predicting what scholars may in the future consider in their work on the novel is to look at reviews of the book at the time of its publication and see if there are any issues or concerns in common among reviews. Read the five reviews of the novel provided in the folder then write a 4 to 5 page paper that articulates what you consider to be a major scholarly concern to be addressed in future critical work on the novel and then write the bulk of your essay considering that concern in the novel.
