To prepare:
• Participate in or review an archived version of the following Walden Library Webinars:
o Introduction to the Walden Library
o Evaluating Online Resources
o An Introduction to Evidence-Based Searching
• Then search the Walden Library and locate two peer-reviewed primary research articles that pertain to your practice area and are of particular interest to you.
To complete:
Write a 4-paragraph APA-formatted paper addressing the following:
• Write a 1-paragraph summary of each of the articles you have selected (a total of 2 paragraphs).
• Write 1 paragraph that synthesizes the two articles using a scholarly voice.
• Write a final paragraph in which you discuss the differences between summarizing and synthesizing research

to inform and support your positions and conclusions in the Application Assignments. Graduate-level scholarship provides the foundation for your work and requires a
higher level of evidence than lay references such as the dictionary, Wikipedia, general Internet sites, nursing newspapers, expert opinion, and the like.
Week 4 Application: Locating and Critically Analyzing Primary Research Articles (15 points)
Write a 4-paragraph APA-formatted paper addressing the following:
• Search the Walden Library and locate two peer-reviewed primary research articles that pertain to your practice area and are of particular interest to you.
• Write a 1-paragraph summary of each of the articles you have selected (a total of 2 paragraphs). (3 points per article summary—6 points total)
• Write 1 paragraph that synthesizes the two articles using a scholarly voice. (4 points)
• Write a final paragraph in which you discuss the differences between summarizing and synthesizing research. (5 points) Note: Up to 2 points may be deducted for
grammar, spelling, and/or APA error
- you MUST include numbers in the paper, statistics.
- overall: what is the research question? Argument, counter argument? You must focus more.
- the paper should not exceed the word limit which is 3000 words!
