      In recent years, specifically after mass shootings, some news media have been vocal about not over-publicizing the names of alleged perpetrators, so as not to popularize them. Instead, news media have been giving more attention to the names and faces of victims so as to memorialize them. In this Discussion Spark, you consider the importance of focusing on crime victims. Why is it important to focus on them?
