Scenario You work in a design firm, which specialises in designing various Engineering products that meet the criteria of clients. As a young apprentice, the chief structural engineer has asked you to investigate the deformation of beams both by deflection and rotation. Furthermore, your company is now designing pressure vessels and components subjected to extremely high pressures. She requires you to explain why shrink fits are a vital part of an assembly to ensure structural integrity of the component. You are requested to demonstrate an understanding of the theory and to explain your understanding by way of a series of worked examples in structural analysis and draw conclusions from your work.
