Memory techniques used in studying
We’ve seen that memory is a very complicated thing. Much of success in school depends on being able to remember facts and figures while relating them to a general theory or philosophy. Discuss some of the memory techniques you use in studying and how they relate to the memory process. Discuss false memories and their impact as well. Can you give any personal examples of a time you experienced a false memory? Watch the video below about false memories.

Visualization uses imagination to create mental images that link the ideas in a more easily remembered way. Repetition involves learning a concept multiple times until it is ingrained in the brain. All of these methods rely upon our ability to store and recall information from long-term memory.
False memories occur when we incorrectly recall an event that did not actually occur or misremember details about an event that did happen. False memories can have serious consequences because they can be based on beliefs rather than facts and have significant impacts on decision making processes. A personal example of a time I experienced false memory is when I was at a family reunion and my father told me he had gone sky diving while he was in college many years ago; however, later I realized that this wasn’t true as my father had never been sky diving before nor had he ever mentioned it prior to this day at the reunion so this false detail had just been made up or perhaps my mind fabricated it due to some sort of unconscious bias against him during our conversation.
Research has suggested that false memories are formed through the process called “memory reconstruction” which includes several stages such as encoding, consolidation, retrieval and reconstruction where each step can potentially lead to alterations in the original memory which then become permanent if not corrected timely by additional evidence provided either by people involved directly with event or external sources like newspapers for example. So it is often difficult for people who experience false memories since there may be no evidence available for them anymore after considerable amount of time passes since original incident occurred so even if person realizes mistake eventually still won't be able recover accurate version same thing happened before due lack proper supporting data related issue itself . Furthermore psychological studies have also found out certain types personalities might prone creating more imaginary scenarios conscious level thus leading development more frequent cases involving false recollection events took place without any real proof existing support claims being made individual's part
