The case study scenario the following case scenario is an example of a fictitious learner offered to the student mentor (mentee) as the basis of this mentor preparation course portfolio assesment. using a refelctive model, the student mentor will be expected to complete a 500-word critical reflection on each of the 8 NMC (2008) domains related to this case study scenario format, providing critical reflection against each omain, supporting evidence from the current literature and also providing evidence of achievement of the NMC outcomes. Mrs basu is a mature learner in her final six-week placement of her second year. This is her first day in your clinical area. Unfortunately, you were unaware that Mrs Basu was coming to the placement. At the initial meeting with Mrs Basu, she says she is unclear about what opportunities your area offers ans is concerned about achieving her learning outcomes in her practice assesmentdocument. you have looked at her practice assesment document (PAD) and you notice that comments from her previous placement suggest she is struggling to demonstrate the level of practice required for this part of her undergraduate programme. her practice assesment document also shows she passed all of her assesment in year one and in the previous year two placements. there were comments from the mentors in year two that stated she was kind, caring and always willing to help but has some difficulty linking evidence based and theory to practice, as well as prioritising/co-ordinating care. it was identified that Mrs Basu needs to develop confidence in her clinical skills and the underpinning knowledge. During the mid-point interview, you feedback that she is friendly, has excellent verbal communication skills and that she has accessed some of the learning opportunities . However, she appears to be slow when performing tasks and still lacks of confidence, and appears to be poorly organised. complete a 500 word critical reflection for each of the eight NMC Domains in relation to the learner identified in the Case Study Scenario.
