1. Throughout the United States, there is a misunderstanding about K-12 School Health Education and Healthy Human Sexuality School Health Education in particular. Over the past two decades, due to local and state advocacy, what was a evidence- based approach to teaching students responsible health-promoting behaviors around reproductive / sexual health risk reduction and reproductive / sexual health promotion morphed into a political controversy. California has vacillated from once requiring all schools to teach K-12 School Health Education including Growth and Development (Healthy Human Sexuality, Reproductive Health, etc.) to teaching Abstinence only, Abstinence Until Marriage, etc. There is a flotilla of arguments and evidence available all over the Internet.

When California eliminated the requirement to teach School Health Education in the public schools, there was a realization that unhealthy sexual / reproductive health risk behaviors were increasing. As a result, many states, including California enacted laws where at a minimum certain aspects of healthy human sexuality education must be taught. Here it is known as the California Heathy Youth Act.
3. provides an argument for why healthy human sexuality school health education begins in Kindergarten with teaching the functional health knowledge, essential health skills, and conceptual understandings for responsible health promoting decision-making OR NOT and, providing an argument for teaching comprehensive sequential K-12 School Health Education including a Middle School Health Education class and a High School Health Education class that includes the required components outlined in the California Healthy Youth Act OR NOT. Your opinion may be that the best learning occurs in a middle school health education and high school health education class taught by university trained and licensed teachers as part of a comprehensive program of study.
I want you to talk about that I believe healthy human sexuality should be start teaching in first grade because students learn about responsible decision making, and every grade level student became more advance and understand about healthy human sexuality. But if you have better ideas about teaching to students in middle school or high school you can write it about that too.
People think it is only about reproduction and just about sexual act, but it is more than that. It is about understand identity, different point of view, communication.
