Movie Black Swan

Movie Black Swan Wikipedia describes Black Swan as a “psychological thriller and horror film.”  however, this definition leaves out another category Aronofsky is using, the dance movie.  Using your own cinematic knowledge, discuss whether or not Aronofsky succeeds in turning a dance movie into a psychological thriller and horror film.  Would you say Black Swan is more one kind of film than another?  How so and why?  How does the film compare to other psychological thrillers or horror films you know?  Where in the film do you see the director challenging the audience’s expectations of one genre or another and where do you see him relying on clichés?  Ultimately, determine whether or not or to what extent Aronofsky’s film is successful filmmaking.
