Scenario:
Congratulations! You just started in a new leadership position that includes having people who report directly to you. When you started, you were given past reviews and other documents going back several years on each of your employees. In fact, you noted that the file for one of your direct reports, Jack, has several medical documents in it, including various health diagnoses/ conditions that he has. While walking by Jack’s desk, you notice he appears to be sleeping at his desk.
What are some possible ways that you might handle this situation to show effective leadership and civility? Please discuss any leadership strategies that you would employ and if you would involve others in this situation. And would you handle this situation differently if Jack were not one of your direct reports?
