compare a scientific article with its news media counterpart based on a scientific topic of your choosing. Both articles must discuss the same topic! This will allow you to compare the two and see: what are the major differences? Aside from the subject matter, what are the similarities? Focus on how the information is delivered.
Then, evaluate how well the news article conveys the scientific article’s information to the public. Is it too specific? Does it leave out important information? Does it sensationalize a minor point in the study? Is it a balanced, accurate account?
