Order Description 1. Choose a contemporary health issue. This could be the emergence of infectious diseases like HIV, access to reproductive technologies, problems with the biomedical paradigm, race and its influence on health, pharmaceutical ethics…the topics are endless. 2. Discuss its causes. This could be biological, social, cultural, and/or political. 3. Discuss the populations who suffer most…and why. 4. Discuss ways that we’ve dealt with this issue so far…what have we learned from this? 5. Discuss the approach a medical anthropologist would take to resolve this issue. What methods would we use? What unique perspective do we have that goes beyond what other methods and research have done so far?
