It is commonly believed that all human beings are born with dignity, and that our dignity is based on our
being human. However, some philosophers have argued that this common view is wrong. Why might
someone believe that being human is not the real basis for personal dignity? What would they propose that
our dignity is based on if not our being human? In light of this argument, what do you believe is the actual
relationship between our being human and our having dignity?
