Prison subculture

  Compare and contrast the male in prison on chapter 7 (Peison Subculture and prison gang influence) with the female in prison on chapter 8 (Female offenders in correctional systems). In answering the question consider the following sub-questions: - What beliefs and norms do they come into the prisons with? (“Importation Theory”) -Are they the same or different for males and females? -Once they are in prison is “Prisonization” the same or do you think they are different for males and females? - Do you think males or females have a higher reoffending (Recidivism) rate because of their treatment in prisons?
