Procurement and Sourcing

Procurement management includes an extensive set of decisions and action which
contribute to sort-term and long-term capabilities of any type of organisation. Procurement
needs to deal with internal customers within the organisation on one hand and manage
supply processes with external suppliers on the other hand.
This brief overview sums up the nature and scope of procurement management, particularly
in terms of the needs and wants of the organisation to ensure the availability of
material/service for its internal processes and meet the market requirement ultimately.
For this assignment, you are to select an organisation of your choice (e.g. an organisation
with which you are familiar), and review, comprehend, and analyse TWO of its procurement
processes, in terms of key decision and action areas (e.g. running tenders, supplier
selection, or supplier evaluation). These two processes need to be mapped and explained in
detail.
You are also required to discuss how those procurement processes may contribute to the
organisation internal processes and their performance objectives and how they can be
improved.
The key to success for this assignment is to demonstrate your ability to analyse and discuss
(the procurement processes) rather than define or describe basic procurement concepts,
tools and techniques.
You are expected to use the module textbook as the basis for your research but credit will be
given for submissions that demonstrate additional research using the academic journals.
