Piaget developed a Cognitive Development theory that focused on how children move through developmental stages. These stages represent how children progress by what knowledge they will make based on their experiences and their level of maturation. Piaget assumed several things about the learning processes of children.
1. Acquiring knowledge is a continuous process.
2. Children will construct their own ideas based on their already knowledge upon which they can build. Children use schema.
3. Children acquire and invent knowledge through interactions with the environment. Children are active learners who learn by doing.
4. Children’s knowledge and development occur in stages
