PsychologyPsychology Psychologists are interested in why people behave in certain ways and what the patterns of our behavior might mean.  Cognitive psychologists are especially interested in this area of research.  One cognitive psychologist named, Rotter has researched a concept called, locus of control.  He and many other cognitive psychologists believe this concept is a useful way to help explain how our thoughts determine how we view the world and how these thoughts and explanations of how the world works guide our choices and subsequent behaviors.  In this paper assignment you will explore locus of control, collect data and think critically about this concept.  Course objectives related to this assignment are:  (1) Identify different types of research design (#1 in your listed course objectives) (2) Interpret the statistics reported in research projects and critically evaluate them (#2 in your listed course objectives). And from Unit 3 course objects, discuss the role of cognition in learning.  These learning outcomes are listed here to allow you to see how this assignment relates to the course but you are not required to use these outcomes in the paper   read these requirements, carefully – this rubric and the associated points will be used to evaluate your work.   1. Define and discus locus of control, compare and contrast external and internal locus of control. Remember to cite any references you use in the body of the paper,(including your textbook) and in your reference list at the end of your paper  (8 pts)2. Administer the form for locus of control to 5 people you know (try to collect data from participants of varied ages, gender, and background).  Explain how locus of control might relate to their behaviors, thoughts and expectations, can you influence locus of control, if so, how?  (10 pts.)3. Research this topic (only need one article from any source, it could also be used in #1 to help you discuss the concept), cite your reference, does research support a connection between locus of control and happiness or health? (8 pts) Use your critical thinking skills from Unit 1 and discuss the type of research design used and analyze information you locate on locus of control and happiness.  See your power point from chapter 1 for the steps for critical thinking and strengths and weaknesses of the various research designs (15 pts).  4. Summary, includes all requirements, presentation (proper grammar, format, citations, followed all directions for use of drop box, name, title page)  4 pts
