Search for the assumptions, ideologies, prejudices, myths, received wisdoms behind the statements and arguments made by the authors you read. This can help you to discern whether they are wrong or right. - Search for values behind the facts. Implicit values adopted by authors can have an influence on which fact they will pay more attention. Search for the combination of facts and values that authors tend to favor. Exemple: people who value individualist, competitive models of society will like payment for ecosystem approaches and cash payments such as is done in REDD more than people who value mutual aid and collective action.
