Complete a reading log that is a reflective analysis of the assigned readings. No introduction, no conclusion. Only a citation page if you cite the author. If you cite the author, you must use APA 7 formatting. HIGHLIGHT SECTIONS ONE AND TWO SO I CAN SEE THE KEY IDEAS.
The reading log is not a mere summary or paraphrasing of the reading material but a critical evaluation of what was read by the student. For this assignment, the reading log will cover one chapter. The following format should be followed for each reading log.
Section One
Summarize for your benefit the main ideas of the readings. It should be brief and concise (no more than two pages).
Section Two
Choose two key ideas from the reading that you want to discuss in depth. Remember, this is a critical analysis. Choose concepts you have questions about, do not understand, disagree with, have prior experience, or embrace. Use the text to analyze the idea and what it means to you. The context of the analysis should be a current or future classroom of your own.
Section Three
Reflect on how your analysis may change your teacher’s style, philosophy, or strategies. Or explain how it reinforces what you currently think. In other words, how did the analysis impact you as a teacher?
