The lyrics often focus on these topics instead of meaningful concepts such as love or integrity which can lead listeners astray from important values in life. This type of lyrical content reduces women down into objects for male pleasure; it implies women solely exist for men’s enjoyment sending an incredibly harmful message about gender roles and respect towards the opposite sex . These songs glorify aggression towards women encouraging disrespect ,often demeaning their physical appearance which could give young adults listening false ideas about relationships unaware there are other ways you should treat your partner . According to Women's Aid Organisation UK 2018 report ‘In 2017/18 , 54%of all domestic abuse related homicide victims were killed by a current or former partner’ These statistics show why promoting healthy attitudes towards relationships rather than toxic ones via music could help reduce these discouraging numbers drastically since research has linked media consumption habits with aggressive behaviour amongst teenagers (Gentile et al 2004) Although role models should offer guidance enabling us learn life lessons ultimately its up us individuals decide our own paths , however some artist don't take responsibility for yet promote messages detrimental both physically & mentally damaging younger generations future outlook especially when taken out context thus highlighting why its extremely essential certain bands convey positive messages properly educating those listening through positive reinforcement rather than negative connotations therefore creating healthier lyrics which promotes social good within society positively benefiting wider audiences long term
