One way you know you’re in school is that you will hear adults ask questions to which they already have answers. List 10 other things that you would hear in school that would let you know that you were in school. (NOTE: Think about things you would hear students, teachers, and other people would say, as well as other sounds in the school environment.)
Known Information Questions position the teacher as the person with the knowledge. This is half of the story. What’s the other half of the story? That is, if the teacher is the person with the knowledge, what does that make the student? What does that “story” mean for what a student is supposed to do?
What other things do teachers commonly say or do that puts the teacher and student in this same relative position?
