Smith and Hayek defend markets for their productive, incentive, and informational capacities. They describe benefits from division of labor and spontaneous order (invisible hand) mechanics. While insightful for and descriptive of their times, they inhabited societies markedly different from ours. This raises the question: Are their analyses still relevant?
