Description Watch once again the video The Line which we saw in class on 10/12 (it is on YouTube URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZxjb4gB93A The documentary relates information about the following six issues: 1) Poverty line - defining the term 2) New poverty- how there are people who were rich who are now very poor, due to the economy 3) the Violence of Poverty - what happens in neighborhoods where poverty is generational and kids have no hope 4)The Nature of Poverty - how oil spills and hurricanes have thrown vibrant communities into poverty 5) The Labor of Poverty - how people struggle and work their tails off and yet are still poor 6) Drawing the Line - call to end poverty in our generation Pick 2 or 3 of the above and write a reaction essay that reflects your sociological understanding of the causes, consequences and potential solutions to the recent rapid uptick in poverty in America.
