This essay is based on the Monopoly game that was played In the classroom. If you were not in attendance that night, or were not an active player, you may speak with a classmate who was in attendance or who played the game for whatever information is needed. Monolopy: Gender & Race The above grid shows how funds were distributed to each player. Red players only received $150 each time they passed “GO” instead of the usual $200. Red players were not allowed to buy certain properties. Women in the game also only received $150 when passing “GO”. If a man drew a Chance card, they became “divorced” and had to pay $25 child support each time they passed “GO’ for the remainder of the game. If they drew another Chance card during the game, their child support payments increased to $50. Player 3 (a female) started the game with no money. She only had a stack of cards entitled Sex and Drugs. Her job was to try to sell her cards to other players. Based on your perceptions, state the possible status of each player. How does this activity relate to real life issues from a sociological perspective.
