TERM PAPER - PROJECT = BUSINESS PLAN or in Select cases an Entrepreneurial study
The term project is a Business Plan that counts, with the PowerPoint, as about 1/3 of your grade; the specific topic is chosen by you and approved by me no later than
the end of WK 3; choose a topic early. A forum for Topics is posted; you will submit your proposal, and I will comment in the Forum. I. will post additional guidelines
and options in Week 1. You may want to investigate biz plan software
The final project will be 25 – 50 pages with exhibits. Use APA format when in doubt, otherwise the plan format will follow industry norms and the needs of your
specific project. Consult your APA s guide or the APA (https://www.apastyle.org/) web site, or links provided in Course Content. Compare sample plans from the links
provided (Course Content) and on websites such as INC etc. GRAMMAR, SPELLING and GRAPHICS MUST BE 100% - any deviation can kill your funding.
You are required to prepare a PowerPoint presentation or “slide-deck” of 10 slides for the project which will count 100 points. This is a critical part of the project,
and will require extra care to achieve the target result. This is submitted along with the Plan in the Assignment Tab. I will also post some current guidelines for
PowerPoint slideshows. Be on the lookout for start-up packages, websites that feature new products, or marketing slide-decks for new products you use or come across at
work. This PowerPoint is emphasized more than in most other classes; it is a special part of presenting business ideas. Your audience for the Plan and PowerPoint slide
show is the targeted investor – lender – partner – or co-founder – not the customer - you are seeking to make your idea a reality. I will be reading and grading these
efforts.
A major component of both Plan and PowerPoint will be the detailed financial models required to support the analysis and forecast sales, costs, profits etc. This
portion must be strong.
The optional Entrepreneurial study would be an in-depth comparison of an actual case history against principles and models developed in the course. It would probably
be more work than the Biz plan, and would require a complete draft be turned in by the end of Week 6 so I could offer critique and comments for the final draft.
