(To begin with, my innate talent and career as an artist began long ago. For instance, I was always wild when I was a child. To practice my social skills, my mother
alway brought to her art studio after school everyday. For me, the studio is like a place where is full of treasures. I always used the materials in the studio to
build my own world. I put cotton on the floor as clouds, wore the dress I made, and pretended I was like a dancing goddess in front of my mother’s clients.
For some time now, I have been involved heavily in art. Therefore, I can comfortably describe myself as a creative spirit. I traveled around the world and went to more
than 20 countries after high school and hoped that I could fine out the meaning of my life. This experience opened my eyes and made me rethink what art is. Art is not
only in museums and galleries, art exists everywhere in our ordinary lives. For me, art is something precious and valuable to individuals, I consider myself as a
critical thinker, and I’m always cared about social justice. My artwork takes a critical view of social, political and cultural issues, such as the conflict between
old culture and modern society and the issue of left behind children . In my work, I deconstruct the modern social issues, fears, pop cultures that are part of my
childhood and adult life. In the recent paintings that I’ve worked on “We Are The Dreamer Who Dreams In A Bizarre World”. I explore my childhood memories in my
hometown Beijing with the social conflict that was caused by China’s tremendous development.
The influences from iconic artists such as Roy Liechtenstein, David Hockney, and Andy Warhol inspires me to transform spatial forms of materials into artworks that
leaves the viewer with a glimpse of what makes up the society. I use acrylic to create a colorful artificial world with black humor to criticize social issues that I’m
concerned about. It is also imperative to point out that my subject matter in my artworks is inspired by my surrounding as well as daily experiences within the social
framework.
The institutions of higher learning will provide me with an ideal environment for me to further grow as well as develop my talent as an artist. My undergraduate
degree, art background, and life experiences make me an excellent candidate to join one of these graduate schools. I am optimistic that this will give me more
knowledge to make my artworks utterly incomprehensible becoming of big significance to the viewers. )
