We have discussed that a major strategy of the Hollywood musical, as a
vehicle of entertainment, is to present a Utopian world – an image of
something better than the realities of every-day existence that we can
escape to, and where our wishes will be fulfilled.
Is this the same strategy used in both films? Or is it different?
