This contract is designed to provide guidance and structure for the supervision of a person seeking certification as a board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA). The supervisee agrees to comply with the terms of this agreement and acknowledges that any violation may lead to termination of the supervisor/supervisee relationship.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
• Provide an appropriate learning environment, including demonstrating respect, providing adequate support, and responding promptly to questions or concerns.
• Maintain professional boundaries with supervisees while fostering their development in becoming independent practitioners.
• Engage in conversations with supervisors about relevant topics related to BCBA ethical standards, practice guidelines, and current practices in applied behavior analysis (ABA).
• Meet at least monthly for face-to-face supervision sessions but make sure that there are also opportunities for remote supervision as needed.
• Provide regular feedback regarding progress toward meeting certifiable experience requirements throughout the duration of the supervisory relationship.
• Adhere to all rules set forth by governing bodies such as BACB regarding supervision; be familiar with state laws relating to licensure or other legal requirements pertaining to ABA services before commencing supervision activities; ensure that all documentation is completed when required or requested; have sufficient knowledge of ABA principles necessary for competent delivery of ABA services through direct observation and evaluation.
Supervisee Responsibilities:
• Be open and receptive during supervision sessions by arriving on time prepared with materials necessary for each session (i.e., notes from previous cases worked) .
• Practice responsible self-care habits by allowing sufficient rest between clinical assignments if it affects performance negatively; take breaks if feeling overwhelmed or burnt out .
• Respect diversity among clients regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, race/ethnicity/culture , disability , etc.; display cultural competence when working with others who differ from oneself .
• Communicate regularly including informing supervisor promptly when unable to attend scheduled meetings ; request assistance if struggling on any given case ; ask questions if concepts are not understood clearly .
• Assess own performance objectively without minimizing successes or exaggerating mistakes made on any given case ; acknowledge areas needing improvement without being overly critical towards oneself .
• Participate actively in continuing education (CE) activities related directly to ABA topics so that best practices can be incorporated into treatment plans developed going forward . *It is recommended that CE activities occur at least twice yearly in order keep skills sharp*
