Personal Statement
One day during a summer, one of my sisters called me on the phone, and said that she had this painful swallowing, and it was like a foreign body stuck in her throat. She could not eat or sleep well. I suggested her to go see her medical doctor. Despite taking pain killers, she was not getting any better. After getting laboratory test result, the doctor referred her to get a thyroid ultrasound. Even though the doctor could find anything on a physical exam, the ultrasound showed thyroid nodules on both sides of the neck. After getting treatment, she was getting better. Six months after the treatment, recheck thyroid ultrasound was performed, and it showed reduced sizes of thyroid nodules. She took treatment and did regular follow-up. Third-time ultrasound result showed that the nodules had disappeared. My sister said special thanks to not only her medical doctor but also to her medical sonographer. I realized that a medical sonographer plays an important role in a patient care. The reason why I wanted to be a sonographer is that sonographers make a difference in patient care. As I like modern technology, I would like to provide healthcare to the community using technology.
