The Hekanakht Letters (11-12th Dynasty, letters of an official of early Middle Kingdom)

      For your end of semester paper pick a historical text (or set of related texts), and discuss the significance of these to Egyptian history. Paper should include the following elements: (1) what the text is, where it's from, when and how it was discovered, etc. (2) the content of the text, structure, theme, narrative, etc, of the composition. (3) discussion what the historical context of the text is, political, social, cultural importance. (4) any varying understandings, debates about the meaning of the text. (5) include a translation of all or parts (as relevant). (6) include in-text references and bibliography at the end.
