The World of Technology Project description As a technology leader, being able to identify and keep up with emerging technologies and technology trends is important. One of the challenges when selecting emerging technologies is predicting which emerging technologies will be worth the investment of time and money for adoption. When making decisions about technology, it is helpful to start by reflecting on your current technologies along with your goals. You can also consider options such as alternative, or disruptive, technologies that may not have been specifically designed for student, consumer or colleague use but can change the way things are accomplished in your environment. In this assignment, you will examine the potential of disruptive technologies. You will also construct a tetrad to help you develop the ability to anticipate emerging technologies more effectively. The world of technology is a world that is continually evolving. One technology is replaced by another on a regular basis, creating challenges for those who make decisions about which technologies to purchase. As a technology leader in your school and classroom, it is helpful to be able to anticipate the emergence of technologies that may cause a current technology to become obsolete. McLuhans Laws of Media features a four-quadrant tetrad that you can use to make predictions about future developments in technology. For this assignment, select an emerging technology and create a tetrad with four progressions. For the technology you have selected, complete the following tetrad sections: Enhances: What does this technology do that is new? Obsoletes: What does this technology replace? Retrieves/Rekindles: What does this technology bring to mind (or retrieve) from the past? Reverses: What might replace this technology in the future, or what might it cause to occur? Describe the potential impact of the technology on teaching and learning and explain why a school might want to adopt this particular technology Length: 5-7 pages not including title and reference pages. References: minimum of 3 scholarly resources. Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic.
