ThinkFun's Supply Chain

ThinkFun’s supply chain is outdated, but the industry itself is booming. In order to keep up with demand, Barthello predicts ThinkFun will need a supply chain rejuvenation, and she wants you to think about this like a modern entrepreneur. Work in groups to prepare a 10- to 15-minute presentation, responding to the question: What would you do to set up a supply chain today? In so doing, you will need to: 1) conduct research on the options available, 2) evaluate the cost, and finally 3) apply your logic to ThinkFun’s situation. Consider the following as you prepare: 1. How does additional context impact your thinking about supply chains? 2. What aspects of a business impact the appropriateness of different supply chains, if any? 3. Barthello is leaning toward third-party and/or automated options—how does your logic match up? 4. Is she right to move away from an in-house supply chain? Why/why not?
