Elaborate on the particular aspect of your language’s phonology that you wanted to capture in your word list (Vowel Length).. Integrate information that you have picked up from a variety of sources including Wikipedia, other websites, and the scholarly or academic references that you reviewed. It is essential that your discussion be written by you. Do not copy and paste from Wikipedia or from any other source! Think about what you have read and write it out in your own words. Your grade depends on you following these instructions! Ideally, you will integrate what you learned based on your literature review into the discussion of the words from your word list. If not, you will need to have a second part that describes what you did learn based on your literature review. Example: “As can be seen in Table II above, Bengali includes a large number of stops. The difference between tenuis and aspirated stops can be seen when you compare words 1 and 2, which are a minimal pair and display the contrast at the dental place of articulation. Words 6 and 7 are a near-minimal pair and display the tenuis/aspirated distinction at the retroflex place of articulation. Recently, Mikuteit and Reetz (2007) showed that the timing of 5 aspirated and breathy voiced stops in Bengali is quite similar. They claim that murmured stops are best thought of as voiced aspirated stops. Also, Das (2009) notes that aspirated stops in Bengali and the glottal fricative /h/ have a similar distribution.” These descriptions are very brief—your descriptions should be a bit longer (2-4 sentences). Be sure you give yourself adequate space to completely describe the articles based on your understanding of the abstracts.
End your paper by summarizing what you have learned. This does not need to be complicated or more than a paragraph or two, but it should give your reader a sense of what the paper accomplishes. “As shown above, Bengali is a widely spoken language with a phonemic inventory that is different from English, and it uses several interesting features, including a number of different types of stops and the retroflex place of articulation…” (I Will attach my project so you can get the gist of what the instructions mean, I will also give you two sources you could use to complete this.)
