Sample Solution
The overall goal of my PSA is to get people to understand the importance of voting and encourage them to do so. My target audience will be young adults aged 18-35, specifically those who are not registered voters or have yet to take part in any form of political activity.
Voting is an integral part of our democracy and a cornerstone of our politically active society. The right to vote is hard fought for and its power must not be underestimated. It gives citizens the ability to express their opinion on issues that matter most in today’s world – from healthcare, education, civil rights, economy, environment and more - by casting their ballot for elected officials that best reflect their views. Unfortunately however, only about 60% of eligible voters turn out during local federal elections according to statistics from the US Elections Project (2018). This low turnout rate often eliminates key voices from important conversations when it comes time for making decisions which affects us all directly or indirectly.
It is important for people to know about this topic because it allows them a chance to make meaningful change in their communities, state and country as a whole by voting for candidates who best represent their principles come election time. Moreover, having an informed electorate helps assure governments remain accountable with the decision they make on behalf of constituents while representing common interests across party lines without bias towards special interests groups. By being vocal with your votes, you can ensure your voice has been heard before decisions are made at local levels all leading up national ones as well (CIRCLE 2017).
