Everyone is familiar with watching movies. With the abundance of streaming services and wireless devices, watching movies are more accessible than ever before. No matter how much or how little you watch movies, there are always those that stand out above the rest. Sometimes, it is because of a favorite actor. Other times, it is the story told, or feelings evoked. This assignment invites you to think more deeply about one of your favorite movies.
Instructions: Choose your favorite movie of all time and write a 1-2 page analysis. Address the following:
1. Describe the unique features of your chosen movie.
2. Identify the genre of your chosen movie (film noir, romantic comedy, the screen musical, the western, horror, suspense, thriller, documentary, fictionalized biography, comedy, drama, etc.).
3. Explain what you like and/or dislike about the genre.
4. Analyze what makes your chosen movie a good representation of the genre. Use descriptive language and include at least two examples.
5. Describe at least three aspects of this movie that make it engaging and memorable.
Your assignment should be written in APA format and should include in-text citations and a reference page.

My favorite movie of all time is the 1994 drama, Forrest Gump. This movie tells the story of a slow-witted but kindhearted man named Forrest who goes through life with a positive outlook despite his limited intellect.
The unique features of this film include its blend of comedy and drama to tell an uplifting story about perseverance and unconditional love. Forrest Gump falls into multiple genres including coming-of-age, romantic comedy, satire and war drama.
I like that any genre can be used to tell a compelling story if done correctly. Genres are simply frameworks for conveying a narrative in an engaging way that resonates with viewers. In the case of Forrest Gump, it seamlessly blends several genres together to create something truly special and memorable – from comedic moments such as meeting John Lennon at Georgetown University to more dramatic scenes with Jenny’s abusive boyfriend or when he saves his platoon in Vietnam – which creates a powerful mix of emotions throughout the viewing experience.
What makes Forest Gump so good at representing these various genres is its ability to take the audience on an emotional journey while still maintaining its entertaining nature; viewers laugh, cry and feel inspired by his triumphs over adversity throughout his life…all within two hours! It also has some excellent cinematography which helps bring out certain themes in its characters’ stories - such as how Jenny always runs away from her problems or how young Forrest needs guidance from others yet still manages to make smart choices despite his IQ score being below average for most people around him during those times. Finally, Tom Hanks gives an outstanding performance as Forrest himself whose naivety actually endears us more towards him than lessens our opinion instead - oftentimes making us chuckle too much that we forget about even wanting revenge against bullies or anything else negative happening in this film’s world!
Forrest Gump is one of my favorite movies because it provides an array of well written characters (each with their own subplot), breathtaking visuals (such as when Forrest meets President Kennedy) and plenty of memorable quotes (e.g., “Life is like a box o' chocolates"). Although some might argue it's not completely realistic due to certain plot points (like running across America) they don't detract form what otherwise stands out as one thought provoking yet light hearted piece depicting life’s highs & lows . All these elements come together perfectly making it enjoyable no matter how many times you watch this timeless classic!
