“ When You Need to Say No” at work

After reading the Holly Weeks article in Readings 2.6 (p. 183) and the reading assignment “This Year, Say Yes to Saying No” (also attached here), describe a situation at work (either real or potentially possible), where you had to say no to a colleague or subordinate on an issue that meant a great deal to them (salary, responsibilities, requests, etc.). Did you stay with no? How did it play out? Is the author’s advice helpful?
