Implementing 7 Day working in Imaging Departments: GoodPractice Guidance – respose

Project description
The article should be a response to the first paper attached (Implementing 7 Day working in Imaging Departments: Good Practice Guidance).
The paper is basically useless as it doesn’t give any concrete solutions to current problems in radiology in the UK like high workload and shortage of personnel. It also doesn’t give any concrete plans dor a 7 day work schedule. It is recycling the same information that has been around for at least 4 5 years so it is a bit redundant.
Also some of the articles cites as {11. 12. 13. 14) studies that concluded the need for weekend cover do not refer to Radiology but to other specialties like O&G (newborn deaths from hypoxia – not related to radiology in any way).

The bottom line is they should come up with legitimate options like expanding workforce, dealing with increasing workload. With current numbers of Radiologist it will be hard to provide 7 day service and it will stretch an already stretched to the limit field. Only Increasing numbers of trainees by 60 will make up for the shortage – compared to other countries like Germany or Sweden. Also outsorcing reportin of imaging and teleradiology is not the answer as thera are hidden costs and lack of quality.

Please ask any questions and will try to answer as soon as possible.
Thank you.
