choose one of these three options as your essay topic:
a) Describe the experiences of working in a factory making communications technologies versus working in an e-waste dump disposing of them, and how workers and associated not-for-profit groups organize and use the media to defend their rights.
b) Engage with theories of identity to analyze media representations of one out of these categories: race, sexuality, class, disability, or gender. You may choose any media texts to analyze, provided that they are available in English and on-line.
c) Construct a debate between these two contrasting perspectives: “Nothing is new about the digital media. The same old questions of inequality and exploitation apply” versus “The new media have revolutionized life and created freedom everywhere.”
