Integrated Studies: Economic Themes in Literature

 

Instructions:

Please follow the 4 part Research Question listed below. The paper should follow the organizational plan of part-by-part with an emphasis on humanity discipline.

1. Topic: I am researching the value of economic themes in fictional literature.

2. Conceptual Question: Because I want to find out if storytelling with economic themes can bring value to the average person

3. Conceptual Significance: In order to help readers understand that economic themes and financial awareness can be gathered from stories we know and love.

4. Potential Practical Application: So that readers may become more financially conscious and economically aware.

Organizational Plan:

The paper should begin with begin with definitions of the economic themes that will be discussed: value creation, insurance and risk, and inequality

Once the themes have been defined, then explain the different literature works that show these themes in different lights.

The themes that will be researched will be divided into 3 parts, by adding layers onto the information provided, list the main themes and their research findings. starting with the Value creation which is described with (literature works and stories attached) then move onto Insurance and risk management (literature and stories attached) (ex. “What Jane Austen can teach us about risk management”)
The final of the three categories is inequality in economics with research brought in from (Literature works and articles attached)
Once the themes have been described in depth, point out the links between the stories we hold dear and their economical percpectives.

In conclusion, the importance of having a constant dialogue between the finances and Fictional literature as the stories in the literature is what will humanize economics in order for it to be better understood.

The economist, Mihir Desai talks a lot of these findings in his book “The Wisdom of Finance” I will send it as well.
