Runway Incursion

Research why the number of runway incursion have increase with the number of aircraft activity in the last 2-decades. This has caused more deaths, injuries, and property damage. This is a big problem that the data will no show no improvement in the last 2-decades. Runway Incursion is a problem and it must be reduced. The trends lines for runway incursion is going up. In the year 2016 there were 1536 runway incursions in the United States (US) (FAA, 2012). In 2015 there were 1458 across the US. As the research continue to investigate the numbers of incursions continue to decrease in 2014 there were 1264 runway incursions, 2013 there were 1242, and finally in 2012 there were 1150 (FAA, 2012). The problem of runway incursions continues to increase to the present time. There must a continuous problem if we cannot control these runway incursions increase in this country. The research question that this investigation will explore is why the increase of runway incursion in the last 2-decades? This will also show that because of the increase in flight operations that this increase of runway incursions. Creating more property damage, deaths, and injuries. The data will be gathered from recent FAA safety data reports and flight activity.
