Consider yourself as an educational psychologist and imagine that you are about to teach a lesson or some other type of instructional presentation to a group of 20 students. Choose a topic for this lesson by following the guidelines below.
1. Select an educational psychology topic that is of interest to you. Your topic must be about educational psychology. Topics outside the scope of educational psychology are not acceptable. Examples might include o Piaget’s stages of cognitive development. o The importance of prior knowledge in new Teaming. o The use of case studies in instruction. o Study skills strategies for adults. o How to write test questions.
2. Choose a topic that you feel you can teach within a 30-minute to one-hour time span.
3. Explain how your topic is relevant to the educational psychology field.
4. Describe in very general terms, the learning situation in which you will teach. For example, what is the purpose of the lesson, presentation, or workshop? Who are your students? What will the students take away from your instruction?
